K + M

PROFILE

K+M is an architecture and Urban Design firm led by principal partners Sharif S. Kahatt and Marta Morelli.  The firm is focused on works that challenge a range of scales, peculiarities of a site, requirements of program and the specifics of a target audience.  Consequently K+M understands each project as a new research opportunity and a potential catalyst for transformation in urban life.

The office was established in 2007, although its partners collaborate as independent architects since 1997.  Sharif S. Kahatt and Marta Morelli have individually developed projects that vary in scale and type, acquiring experience in urban design, architecture and interior design projects in different cities like Boston, New York, Barcelona, Cairo, Beijing, Cuzco, Tambopata and Lima.  Among their experiences it is relevant to mention a retail and entertainment center over Penn Station in New York-USA; a 90,000 square meter (22 acre) mixed use development in Cairo-Egypt; a 325,000 square meter (80 acre) mixed use development in Michigan-USA and a 100,000 square meter (24 acre) convention center in Chincha-Peru. In addition to professional work, K+M is actively involved in teaching, researching, publishing and lecturing as a way to explore complementary issues to the architectural practice.
